Unlike other antioxidants, C60 is a hollow sphere of carbon, sequestering the free electrons inside of the carbon cage, where they cannot escape.
C60 enters the cells and mitochondria, absorbs free electrons, and then after a few days it diffuses out of the body taking the excess electrons with it. It acts as a sponge, absorbing, neutralizing and safely removing the free electrons.

Free radicals are highly reactive, charged molecules that are naturally produced by the body during respiration. The oxygen we breathe is used inside our mitochondria to break down glucose into water and carbon dioxide and produce energy. But some of the oxygen produces harmful compounds called free radicals. These molecules have an extra electron or proton, making them unbalanced and highly reactive. The free radicals will react with a protein, carbohydrate, fat or DNA molecule nearby, causing damage. The damage accumulates over years resulting in aging, disease and cancer.

The strips are good at least up to the “Best By Date” printed on the bottom of the inner package (plastic cassette dispenser). The listed expiration date is two years after the date of manufacture.

There is also a date on the outside pouch of the product with “Ver. [date]”. This is related to the graphics date revision, not the product expiration or manufacture date.

There are hundreds of studies performed and published over the past 25 years with no evidence of toxicity. In fact, studies designed to test for toxicity, found the opposite, that the test animals lived longer than the control group.

The opposite is when the molecules are part of a crystal, connected to other molecules. The molecules cannot move freely.

We have a patent pending on solubilizing C60. We are the only ones to have a solubilized C60. All other C60 products are finely ground crystals. The molecules of C60 are bound, not free.

Derivitization is a common technique used to increase the solubility of C60 in water to increase bio-availability. The C60 molecule is reacted with other materials to add hydrophilic groups to the surface of the molecule. This improves solubility in water, but the resulting molecule is no longer C60. The chemistry of the resulting molecule can be profoundly different from the original C60 molecule.

In the case of C60, it is a powerful antioxidant molecule in biological systems, like the human body.

In order to have full activity as an antioxidant, the C60 molecules must be free to dissociate and move throughout the body, passing through cell walls, getting inside the cells and mitochondria, where they are a biologically active antioxidant.

C60 molecules absorb extra electrons and protons from free radical molecules, neutralizing them and preventing them from doing harm.

Since C60 is literally a cage of carbon, the sequestered electrons cannot escape to form more free radicals.

This is why C60 is called a free radical sponge.
